Error description

  • Currently the XSDT block used by security discovery to capture
security discovery data (SDD) can handle up to 100 resources
    for each origin/transaction combination.

For most transactions this is significantly more than enough
space. However, some user transactions access over 100
resources. This can lead to some resources being missed in the
SDD output for transactions that accessed over 100 resources.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Resources are missed by CICS security *
    * discovery for transactions that access *
    *                      over 100 resources.                     *
    ****************************************************************
    When a single origin/transaction combination accesses 100
resources, any further resources accessed via this
origin/transaction combination will not be stored in the XSDT
block. In this case, any further resource access will never be
recorded by security discovery into the DFHSECD logstream
which stores the security discovery data (SDD) records.

Since these resources were not recorded into the DFHSECD
logstream, DFH$SDDP will produce an incomplete SDD file as these
resources which were not stored in the XSDT block will be
    ignored.

Problem conclusion

  • CICS security discovery has been updated to record over 100
resources from a single origin/transaction combination.

This APAR also fixes an issue where new entries were not
initialised correctly. These were subsequently missed from the
    final SDD file.
