  The internal representation of the reference modification in the
  CANCEL statement was being inadvertently corrupted though
  incorrect access of compiler bookkeeping structures during
  CANCEL statement processing.
  

Problem conclusion

• The compiler was updated to ensure bookkeeping structures
  relating to internal information for a CANCEL statement are
  updated and accessed correctly.
