Error description

  • An attempt to access the dataset containing the data unloaded by
a successful run of a Db2 HPU step fails reporting an "I/O
error" or an "Invalid block size" issue.

This occurs if all of the following conditions are fulfilled:
    - the BSAM access method is used for the output datasets (as
indicated by the INZU666I message output by Db2 HPU)
    - the use of zIIP processors is enabled (as indicated by the
      INZI210I message output by HPU)
    - the VUM029/DFSIGDCB parameter in the PARMLIB is set to NO
    - the dataset containing the unloaded data is handled through a
ddname (specified by the OUTDDN or UNLDDN option) that
allocates a dataset with one of the following record formats
      (RECFM):
       - FBM
       - FBA
       - DBS
       - DBA
       - FBSA
       - FBSM
       - FBTA
       - FBTM

Local fix

  • This issue can be resolved using one of the three following
    methods:
    - Specify SEQ_IO_METHOD INPUT(BSAM), OUTPUT(QSAM) in the GLOBAL
      options block
    - Disable zIIP processing by specifying the ZIIP OFF option
    - Allocate the dataset without specifying the RECFM attribute or
specifying any suitable one that does not trigger the issue
