Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM z/OS Change Tracker. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: 1. Corrupted data set names on the ISPF * * Recover panel. * * 2. CYG573E Invalid Event message during * * migration of the Archive Control * * file. * * 3. CSAVE or STC default comments not * * added to backup records. * * 4. The SURVEILLANCE command does not * * detect when a data set is renamed or * * deleted. * * 5. CSAVE fails if the member is checked * * out to a RACF group. * * 6. Abend 0C4 or A78 in the started task * * when deleting members of a protected * * PDS. * * 7. The UNPROTECT command takes a long * * time to complete. * * 8. The started task terminates with * * abend 0C6. * * 9. The Check In ISPF panel * * unnecessarily shows all protected * * data sets. * * 10.The output of SHOW=ACTIONS with * * OPTION=EXTENDEDCOMMENT is corrupted. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. * **************************************************************** 1. Data set names on the Recover panel may be corrupted if other panels are displayed first. 2. If the AUTOARC command has been run prior to running repository migration, the migration job could fail with message CYG573E. 3. Comments added by CSAVE and the started task do not appear in the SHOW=BACKUP report. 4. If a protected data set is renamed or deleted while the started task is inactive, when the started task is subsequently restarted, the SURVEILLANCE command removes the data set from the protection list with no warning. 5. If a member is checked out to a RACF group and a user belonging to that RACF group attempts to use CSAVE on that checked out member, the CSAVE fails with a "CHECKED OUT BY ANOTHER USER" message. 6. When members of a protected data set are deleted and the data set or other members of the PDS are renamed shortly afterwards, the started task may abend with an 0C4 or A78. 7. The UNPROTECT command takes a long time to complete for a protected data set that contains many members or the members have had many updates. 8. An 0C6 abend can occur when the stated task refreshes the protection list. 9. The Check In panel shows all protected data sets but only needs to show those that have checked out members. 10.Extended comments displayed by the SHOW=ACTIONS command with the EXTENDEDCOMMENT option have incorrect characters in the first line.
Problem conclusion
1. The code is changed to correctly display the Recovery panel data set names. 2. The code is changed to correctly handle records relating to archives. 3. CSAVE comments now appear in the SHOW=BACKUP report. 4. A message is now issued when a deleted or renamed data set is encountered and the data set is no longer removed from the protection list. 5. Users in a RACF group to which a member is checked out can now successfully use CSAVE. 6. The code is changed to allow deletions and renaming of members, within quick succession, belonging to a protected data set. 7. The code is changed to eliminate unnecessary processing with the UNPROTECT command. 8. The code is changed to better handle shared storage when building the protection list. 9. The Check In panel now only lists data sets that have members checked out. 10.The SHOW=ACTIONS command now shows extended comments correctly.
