Error description

  • The queue manager STATQ attribute was ON but after START QMGR
BACKMIG was executed, the STATQ was changed to OFF. For a change
in command level, QMGR start up in CSQMERST decides to recreate
the QMGR object (MMMS). To do this it queues a request to call
CSQMNMMS. CSQMNMMS sets defaults for each of the QMGR object
attributes. It then locates the old QMGR object, and copies
values from it into the new one as appropriate. The problem is
that the STATQ value is never copied from the old QMGR object.
This leaves it at the default value which is OFF. This problem
occurs for every migration, forward or backwards.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The status of the STATQ attribute on *
    * the queue manager is not correctly *
    * preserved when performing forward or *
    * backward migration across MQ versions. *
    ****************************************************************
While object migration occurs during both forward and backward
migration, the queue manager object (MMMS) containing the STATQ
attribute is recreated during startup. The recreation process
does not copy the STATQ value from the previous instance,
resulting in it being reset to its default value of OFF.

Problem conclusion

  • The code has been changed to ensure the STATQ status from the
previous queue manager object is correctly copied into the newly
    created object during migration.
