Error description

  • A CMCI Query is executed and messages like the following are
    written out to the logs:
    
    com.ibm.cics.drake.jcpsm.RecordDecoder W Unexpected value
    decoding attribute TCB
    com.ibm.cics.drake.jcpsm.DataType$DecodingException: Enum not
    found for value: 1
    
    One of the transactions encountered in the query has not
    completed XMAT attach (e.g it is stuck in a TCLASS suspend). As
    a result of the state of the transaction, the INQUIRE TASK SPI
    call issued during the query replies back with an uninitialized
    value.

    When a CICS task has not completed XMAT attach, the
    INQUIRE TASK SPI call returns with a 0 value for the TCB value.
    This is interpreted by the CPSM WUI and CMCI REST interface as
    a tcb="NOTAPPLIC" in the returned results. The CMCI GraphQL
    schema does not have mapping of the 0 value returned from the
    SPI to an enumeration value which would map to 'NOTAPPLIC'. As
    such the interface cannot correctly decode this value resulting
    in the error message in the JVM server logs, and an error on
    the request.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The CMCI GraphQL interface has been updated to correctly map
    the 0 TCB value on the TASK resources to match the value
    returned by the WUI and CMCI REST interface.
    
    Further improvements to the error produced have been made in
    this case to detail the resource table as well as the attribute
    causing the error from RecordDecoder.
