PH66776: CICS HANGS DURING SHUTDOWN DUE TO ECI SOCKET

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• CICS is shutdown and the CSOL socket listener task closes a
  socket as IE domain is processing a new ECI request on that
  socket.  This results in IE domain incorrectly believing it has
  a connected client which results in a hang during shutdown.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CICS hangs during shutdown due to       *
  *                      ECI installed client being open.        *
  ****************************************************************
  During the shutdown of CICS, the Sockets listener task (CSOL)
  attempts to close any CICS sockets in the region. IE domain is
  still using one or more of these sockets resulting in the IE
  installed client remaining open. This prevents CSOL from closing
  the socket and hangs the shutdown process.
  
  DFHIE1105 is issued and IE domain will show multiple installed
  clients when a dump is formatted.
  

Problem conclusion

• CICS has been updated so that the installed client is closed.
