Error description
Db2 Data Sharing users of V13 Partition-By-Range ( PBR ) Relative Page Numbering ( RPN ) table space running in a co-existence environment, may encounter a loss of data integrity for a PBR RPN partition opened on a Db2 member that is now at V13R1M100. Since the tablespace was not previously REORG'd in V12 with V12 PTFs UI92688 and UI97574 applied, prior to the member being migrated to Db2 V13.
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All Db2 for z/OS data sharing users at * * function level V13R1M100 with * * partition-by-range (PBR) table spaces * * defined with PAGENUM RELATIVE (RPN) * * attribute * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Potential loss of data integrity for * * PBR RPN table spaces on activation * * of a function level higher than * * V13R1M100 from V13R1M100 if * * the instructions in the prior red * * alert have not been followed * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply corrective PTF when available * **************************************************************** A locking issue for partition-by-range (PBR) with PAGENUM RELATIVE (RPN) tablespaces in data sharing was identified and resulted in red alert (7158065) being issued in 2024. Not following these instructions can result in loss of data integrity when migrating from V12 to V13R1M100 or activating a function level higher than V13R1M100.
Problem conclusion
In order to ensure that the actions specified in the red alert are followed and to prevent data loss, Db2 code is modified to block Db2 at V13R1M100 from accessing a PBR RPN data set if the data set indicates the new hash algorithm is used. In addition, a resource unavailable message with a SQLCODE -904 and DSNT501I console message with a new reason code of 00C90125 will be issued. This is to prevent two incompatible hash algorithms from simultaneous access to the same pageset from different data sharing members. Users must follow the steps described in the Red ALERT document 7158065.
