Error description

  • Migrating from CICS v5.6 to 6.1 and now see message DFHWB1583
    being issued with garbage for the
    new IP address. This happens when the WEB CONVERSE fails
    during the SEND due to network problems.
    The message looks like so:

    THE IP ADDRESS FOR HOST whatever.host.name.is HAS CHANGED. THE
    OLD IP ADDRESS WAS: 12.123.456.78. THE NEW IP ADDRESS IS:

    Message DFHWB1583 was introduced by APAR PH63454/UI98908.
    

Local fix

  • You can stop the message from being issued by disabling the DNS
    cache by setting feature toggle
    "com.ibm.cics.web.dnscache=false". True is the default value.

    Message DFHWB1583, which was added by APAR PH63454, is issued
    to document when a DNS lookup detects that the IP address has
    changed from the one that was being currently used, but it may
    contain corrupted data in the New IP Address field. This
    message corruption will only occur when the connection fails.
    

Problem conclusion

    CICS has been changed to ensure that the New IP Address is
    correctly picked up and set in message DFHWB1583.
