Error description

  • You are running CICS Transaction Server and using WEBSERVICES.

    You may experience any of the following errors due to CICS
    control blocks getting overlaid. Here are some of the errors
    seen:

    DFHKE0201 applid ABOUT TO TAKE SDUMP. DUMPCODE: KERNDUMP,
              DUMPID: 0/0000. (MODULE DFHKESTX)
    DFHPI0001 applid An abend (code 0C4/AKEA) has occurred at
              offset X'000033A2' in module DFHPIPL.
    DFHDS0001 applid An abend (code 0C4/AKEA) has occurred at
              offset X'0CCA' in module DFHDSTCB.

    DFHPG0001 applid An abend (code 0C4/AKEA) has occurred at
              offset X'0F7C' in module DFHPGCH
    DFHST0103 applid An SMF error has occurred with
              return code X'28'.

    The overlay is caused by a WSBIND file that has a length smaller
    than the Web Request Block structure (WRB).

    The overlay can affect any control blocks following immediately
    after the WRB i.e. TASENTRY and TCTTE.

    Additional symptoms: KIXREVDAM
    CPIR LOOP DFHPIWR Provider Requestor WEB Service

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Abend 0C4 with DFHPI0001, and possible *
    *                      subsequent DFHnn0001 0C4 abends.        *
    ****************************************************************
    A WEBSERVICE is installed into CICS, or a PIPELINE scan is
    performed which installs a WEBSERVICE automatically. The wsbind
    file read from the file system is smaller than the minimum
    expected size. This causes CICS to GETMAIN an area of storage
    shorter than the size of the CICS web request block (WRB)
    control block. As a result when fields at the end of the WRB
    are modified 0C4s may occur.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHPIWR has been modified to ensure the size of the area
    GETMAINed for the WRB is at least the minimum possible size.
    Additionally, if a wsbind file is found to be smaller than the
    minimum expected size then new message DFHPI9824 will be issued.

    The IBM Documentation for CICS will be updated to reflect the
    new message of DFHPI9824 in the next refresh.
