APAR status

Error description

• REORG abended in DSNIFOD 500F when performing page formatting
  for part of TS. DSNIFOD attempted to reserve pages for the
  dictionary. But extend failed during UNLOAD phase, due to
  00D70027. As a result, DSNIFOD abended

  A REORG operation on a table space partition failed with an
  abend in DSNIFOD at ERQUAL500F during page formatting.
  The root cause was a failure to extend the underlying
  dataset (reason code 00D70027) during the UNLOAD phase,
  preventing DSNIFOD from reserving dictionary pages and
  subsequently causing the abend.
  The same abend would occur if the same process encountered
  reason code 00D70014.
  

Problem conclusion

• When Db2 encounters a 00D70027 error because the dataset's
  secondary allocation is defined as zero and the dataset
  extension fails (a Resource Not Available situation), the
  current behavior of abending in DSNIFOD is too disruptive.
  By returning an RNA reason code to the REORG utility, Db2
  would allow users to take appropriate action to fix the
  allocation limit.
  00D70014 is another type of Resource Not Available situation,
  instead of abending in DSNIFOD, Db2 would return an RNA
  reason code to the REORGE utility.
