    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR *
    ****************************************************************
    - When the obtaining DB information from IMS Catalog fails, the
DB name that cannot be obtained does not reported by the
      message.

IMS HP Image Copy reports the return code of GEX$CATQ function
GET by FABJ3944E message. But DB name is not reported, and it
cannot be determined in which DBD process is failed.

    - Image Copy function of FABJMAIN program terminates with
      ABEND S0C4 ( ABEND0C4 ) in FABJDPS5 when the following
      conditions are met:
      - Target database is full function DB
      - One of COPY , DUMP or FDUMP of Advanced Image Copy function
        is used
      - Both of HPDC=Y and SENSOR=N is requested

Under these conditions, unnecessary logic is scheduled, then
the process checks unexpected process result and if refers the
storage data that is not built.

    - Recovery function of FABJMAIN program terminates with
ABEND S0C1 ( ABEND0C1 ) when SYSPRINT DD is not presented in
the JCL and IMS catalog access failure is detected.

The SYSPRINT DD is not required by FABJMAIN process. Even
though IMS HP Image Copy tries to write a message into
SYSPRINT DD that is not opened.

Problem conclusion

  • - IMS HP Image Copy provides a new message FABJ3946E in which DB
name is reported. Also, program terminates with ABEND U3946
      when this message is issued.

      The new message is:
FABJ3946E DBD=name CANNOT BE OBTAINED FROM IMS CATALOG
         Explanation
The job is run in an IMS-managed ACBs environment.
The indicated DBD could not be obtained from the IMS
           catalog.
         System action
IMS HP Image Copy issues a user abend code of 3946.
         User response
Ensure that the indicated DBD exists in the IMS catalog.

    - IMS HP Image Copy does not perform the unnecessary process and
then it refers correct storage data.
    - FABJMAIN process reports error messages in DFSPRINT DD instead
      of SYSPRINT DD.

The documentation changes for this APAR has been reflected the
    IMS HP Image Copy User's guide SC19-2756-14. ( SC19275614 ).
