PH65458: COLLATOR ZFILE CLOSING PROCESS ENHANCEMENTS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• 1. Collator stops without closing any files if it encounters
  a problem.
  
  2. Collator closes the old file 20 minutes after
     the maximum number of records has been written to the file.
  
  3. The user is unable to change the time the Collator keeps
     the files open for output.
  
  4. SMF subtype values are parsed incorrectly for some
     SMF records.

  1. When the Collator's output process fails and stops,
     it does not close files.
  2. When a new file is created because the old file reaches
     the maximum number of records, the Collator closes
     the old file 20 minutes later.
  3. Collator does not have a setting to adjust the wait timer
     for closing files.
  4. SMF subtype is incorrectly parsed for SMF records
     with non-standard subtypes.
  

Problem conclusion

• 1. Collator closes all files when it fails and stops.
  2. Collator closes the old file immediately when a new file
     is created.
  3. The user can set the wait time using a parameter
     in the configuration file.
  4. Subtypes are ignored for SMF records that do not have them.
     SMF records 60, 61, 65 and 66 have their textual subtypes
     mapped to numeric values.
