PH65448: OBJECT COMPARE IMPROPERLY HANDLES LONG VARCHAR COLUMNS CONTAINED WITHIN TARGET WHEN THE TARGET IS DDL

Error description

• Object Compare improperly handles LONG VARCHAR columns contained
  within target when the target is DDL. When the target is
  extracted from the catalog, Object Compare treats LONG VARCHAR
  columns as VARCHAR. However, when the target is DDL, Object
  Compare still treats the column as LONG VARCHAR. This leads to
  Object Compare detecting a change in column types when there is
  none. Object Compare should properly handle LONG VARCHAR columns
  contained in the target when target is DDL.

  Normally, Object Compare treats LONG VARCHAR and LONG VARGRAPHIC
  columns in the source and target as VARCHAR and VARGRAPHIC,
  respectively. However, when the target is DDL, Object Compare
  does not treat LONG VARCHAR and LONG VARGRAPHIC columns as
  VARCHAR and VARGRAPHIC. This behavior results in Object Compare
  detecting a change in column types when no such change exists.
  

Problem conclusion

• The problem has been resolved.
  Object Compare properly treats LONG VARCHAR and LONG VARGRAPHIC
  columns as VARCHAR and VARGRAPHIC when the target is DDL.
