Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM z/OS Change Tracker. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: GIM42100W messages during SMPE/E APPLY * * if UI99559 is applied at the same time * * as UI99557. * * * * UI99559 must be applied simultaneously * * on all systems that share a repository. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. * **************************************************************** GIM42100W messages for the SCYGPLGI, SCYGTMPL and SCYGWFLW DDDEFs occur when PTF UI99559 is applied if PTF UI99557 is applied at the same time. When UI99559 is applied to a system, its associated repository must be migrated as per the ++HOLD instructions otherwise the started task will not start and commands will fail with a CYG998E CONTROL file version mismatch message. However if the repository is migrated, any other systems without UI99559 applied using that repository will get unpredictable results. So if UI99559 is applied on any system sharing a repository, it must be applied simultaneously on all the other systems sharing that repository.
Problem conclusion
The z/OS Unix directories associated with the SCYGPLGI, SCYGTMPL and SCYGWFLW DDDEFs were deleted in the APPLY of UI99559, causing the GIM421000w messages. These directories have been reinstated. The code has been changed to allow the PTF to be applied to a system without requiring the immediate migration of the repository that the system is using. The migration can be deferred to a later time, removing the requirement that the PTF be applied at the same time to all systems sharing a repository.
