Error description

  • Following the change to a RESOVERRIDES yaml file JVMs were not
enabled in a few production regions. The CICS logs revealed
messages DFHSJ0210 and DFHSJ0914 were being issued.
The STDERR log show the message JVMJ9VM015W was being issued
when the JVM was unable to obtain enough 64-bit memory to use
    as a Java heap.

The problem was caused by excess 64-bit memory allocated at
region start by CICS when the yaml file identified by the
    SIT RESOVERRIDES parameter is processed.

Local fix

  • To mitigate the issue the customer increased the MEMLIMIT.
    Other possibilities are:
    - edit the yaml file to temporarily remove all the comments
    - (if possible) revert the use of the RESOVVERIDES SIT parm.

In the reported problem, a YAML file defined on the RESOVERRIDES
SIT parameter has its size changed. The YAML files are limited
to 1MB in size. During CICS initialisation, CICS module DFHPARC
requests 64 bit memory for the file proportional to its size.
However, the number of bytes required is passed on the GETSTOR
request rather than the number of megabytes.
This was interpreted as an unobtainable number of megabytes.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHPARC has been modified to request memory in megabytes.
