Error description

  • A redirected recovery of a COPY YES index using a FLASHCOPY as
copy base fails with abend04E RC00C20305 in DSNIOPNP at x'896C'.

The user is running the following:
    RECOVER TABLESPACE dbname.tstarget DSNUM ALL
    FROM dbname.tssource
    TOLASTCOPY

    REPAIR CATALOG TABLESPACE dbname.tstarget
    REPAIR CATALOG INDEXSPACE dbname.ixtarget0

    RECOVER INDEXSPACE dbname.ixtarget
    FROM dbname.ixsource TOLASTCOPY

The RECOVER of the indexspace terminates with:
DSNU017I ... DSNUGBAC - UTILITY DATA BASE SERVICES MEMORY
    EXECUTION ABENDED, REASON=X'00C20305'

Analysis of the dump shows that the non-partitioned index is
opened with a wrong partition number (1 instead of zero).

Local fix

  • BYPASS/CIRCUMVENTION:
Use a sequential image copy as recovery base.

    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply corrective PTF when available *
    ****************************************************************
When executing the RECOVER INDEXSPACE utility on a COPY YES
    non-partitioned index, ABEND04E RC00C20305,
LOC=DSNIDM.DSNIOPNP OFFSET0896C occurs. The failed RECOVER
utility is a redirected recovery, where an incorrect
partition number is used to open the non-partitioned index
during the TRANSLAT phase, leading to the ABEND.

Problem conclusion

  • Db2 code has been updated to use the correct partition
number when opening the non-partitioned index during the
TRANSLAT phase of the RECOVER utility in redirected recovery.
