Error description
CICSPlex SM BAS automatic resource installation (AUTOINST) enhancement.
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS Users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CICSPlex SM BAS automatic resource * * installation (AUTOINST) enhancement. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: After applying the PTF which resolves * * PH64941, regions must be restarted before * * the new capability can be exploited. In * * order to use the new feature toggle, a MAS * * region must be restarted on the new code. * * The CMAS where the MAS is directly connected * * must be restarted on the updated code first. * * If the new capability is not being exploited * * then the PTF can be applied to regions in * * any order. * **************************************************************** This update provides an enhancement to the CICSPlex SM BAS automatic resource installation (AUTOINST) capability. When a MAS is configured for automatic resource installation, BAS will install resources during MAS initialisation, where those resources are specified either through a Resource Description (RESDESC) specifying the AUTOINST(YES) option, or where those resources are CICS System Links configured through the SYSLINK resource table. This update provides the capability to specify that only SYSLINK resources be installed, and RESDESC resources should not be installed during BAS automatic resource installation. This allows more control over the BAS automatic resource install process, and allows for the behaviour of MAS regions to be configured individually. To enable this capability, a new CICS feature toggle is added to CPSM 6.1 and 6.2, which can be specified in a MAS region. The toggle will be ignore in a CMAS. If the feature toggle is not specified, or set to false, then the behaviour of the system is unchanged. To opt to install only SYSLINK resources, and not those resources defined through a Resource Description, specify feature toggle: com.ibm.cics.cpsm.bas.syslinkonly=true

Comments
To enable this capability, a new CICS feature toggle is added to CPSM 6.1 and 6.2, which can be specified in a MAS region. The toggle will be ignore in a CMAS. If the feature toggle is not specified, or set to false, then the behaviour of the system is unchanged. To opt to install only SYSLINK resources, and not those resources defined through a Resource Description, specify feature toggle: com.ibm.cics.cpsm.bas.syslinkonly=true IBM Documentation for CICS Transaction Server for z/OS will be updated to describe the new functionality, new feature toggle, and new message EYUBM0350I.
