Error description

  • For GDPS Global - GM, when the value SYSG is entered in the
L-Parm field on panel VPCPFLFZ for a z/VM system, the load
parameter is not transferred from the Kg to the Kr system.
The following can be observed in the Kr Netlog:

GDPS460-VPCMLOAD: ExcludeL: LOAD parm:SYSG is not hex

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: GDPS GM does not transfer certain *
    *                      z/VM-unique load parameter values       *
    * from Kg to Kr *
    ****************************************************************
GDPS GM incorrectly rejects transfer of some z/VM load
parameters because they do not contain a hexadecimal value
representing a console device number. The following otherwise
    valid values are not transferred:

    - The value 'SYSG'
    - Values that start with 'CONS', other than 'CONSYSC'
    - Values that start with 'CON='
    - Values that start with 'I'

Problem conclusion

  • This PTF corrects the reported problem.

    DOCUMENTATION UPDATE

The GDPS Global - GM Installation and Customization Guide
    (ZG24-6757-XX) is changed as follows:

In the 'Customizing the GDPS Site Table' topic, the note for
L-parm (Load parameter) is changed to:

'Note: If you are using GDPS GM to IPL z/VM, the L-parm can be
set to SYSG or set to start with FN, CONS, CON=, I or be blank
in the site table. These values will be passed to the R-sys
unchanged; however, the L-addr will be translated as per other
load addresses. The special values for z/VM are used in
conjunction with systems that specify system type VL in
    GEOGROUP.'
