Error description

  • ARITH(COMPAT): Negative integer exponents in floating point
computations have slightly different results with COBOL 4.2 vs
    6.

Local fix

  • Compile using ARITH(EXTEND)

    ****************************************************************
A problem has been identified where the result of a floating
point exponentiation computation involving a numeric literal
base and numeric literal exponent can result in differing least
significant digits when the ARITH(COMPAT) compiler option is in
    effect.

Problem conclusion

  • The compiler has been fixed to address the identified issue.
