PH64024: IBM DEVELOPER FOR Z/OS 16.0.5 â “ HEADLESS CODE COVERAGE PRODUCING EMPTY RESULT/OUTPUT DIRECTORY WHEN ENCOUNTERING AN ERROR

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Running Headless Code Coverage on a program that was not
  compiled with the TEST debug parameter will result in an empty
  output directory and non existent code coverage report.  The
  output directory is removed/cleaned because an error was
  encountered collecting code coverage data.  This condition is
  encountered when (1) -singleconnection is used, AND (2) the
  incoming code coverage job, has no code coverage result (in this
  case, due to no debug data with NOTEST compile option).  In the
  absence of the TEST debug parameter, there will be no data for
  the debug engine to find.   Due to the removal of the output
  directory and log, the user is unable to view or act on any
  errors that may have been reported.
  

Local fix

• Compile the target program with the TEST debug parameter to
  avoid this error condition.

• This problem is fixed in versions 16.0.7 and 17.0.1 for the
  following products:
  - IBM Debug for z/OS
  - IBM Developer for z/OS
  - IBM Developer for z/OS Enterprise Edition
