APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Programs with SQL statements with host variables that are binary
and have decimals are wrongly generating the message IGYPS0212-S
    when using the DB2 coprocessor.

    ADDITIONAL SYMPTOMS:
    IGYPS0212-S

Local fix

  • BYPASS/CIRCUMVENTION:
Use DB2 preprocessor instead of DB2 coprocessor.

    RECOVERY ACTION:
    Apply PTF

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: Users of Enterprise COBOL V6.3 compiling *
    * programs with SQL statements, using the SQL *
    * compiler option where an SQL statement has *
    * a binary host variable with decimals, such *
    *                 as    HOSTVAR  PIC 9(4)V9(4) COMP            *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Compiler emits incorrect diagnostic *
    * message IGYPS0212-S for the host var *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF and recompile *
    ****************************************************************
The compiler was checking a field that could be for scaled
positions (not allowed for host vars) OR for decimals.
Another flag had to be checked at the same time to correctly
diagnose scaled host variables. Scaled means picture P.

Problem conclusion

  • The compiler was changed to correctly diagnose scaled binary
host data items and avoid incorrectly diagnosing binary host
vars with decimals as being scaled.

Temporary fix
