Error description

  • 1. Customer is performing COMPARE of two EXTRACT files on TAPE.
There is an error allocating a temporary disk data set needed
for processing of TAPE EXTRACT files. The following System Error
    may be displayed:

IBM InfoSphere Optim System Error Structure - ErrCB
    ErrCB.ID : ZZZERRCBZZ

    2. Customer is performing EXTRACT+CONVERT processing. They do
not specify a dedicated data set name for the CONVERTed file.
While the process completes successfully, the following message
may appear in the PROCESS REPORT:

*** INFO *** CONVERTED_FILE DSNAME WAS SAME AS THE EXTRACT_FILE
DSNAME. CONVERTED_FILE KEYWORD, OR DSN FROM DDNAME, WAS IGNORED.

    3. Customer is performing CONVERT process and specified input
EXTRACT or ARCHIVE data set is located on TAPE. They do not
specify a designated converted data set, or the specified data
set is the same as the input data set. Optim does not diagnose
such scenario as an error which it should.

    4. Customer performs INSERT processing using an EXTRACT of a
Legacy Table (LT) located on TAPE.
They specify the (same) destination table, which is an LT. When
the destination LT has not been defined to
Optim, an ABEND S0C4 may occur:

CEE3204S The system detected a protection exception (System
    Completion Code=0C4).

INSERT setup under ISPF, will incorrectly show the "Source
    Dataset" as "DB2 Table".

    ****************************************************************
    1. Optim is incorrectly diagnosing potential errors during
    COMPARE of tape data sets.
    2. Optim logic is flawed when attempting to determine if
the same data set name has been specified for an EXTRACT
    with CONVERT process.
    3. Optim logic is flawed when attempting to determine if the
same data set name has been specified for the input and
    converted files.
    4. Optim logic is flawed when processing EXTRACTs of Legacy
    Tables from TAPE.

Problem conclusion

  • Optim code will be corrected.
