PH63014: COMPARE FAILS TO GENERATE DROP AND RECREATE TRIGGER STATEMENTS IN WSL WHEN DROPPING COLUMNS ON A TABLE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When generating a WSL in Object Compare, triggers that are not
  present in the source fail to be dropped and recreated when
  dropping columns of its table. This leads to SQLCODE = -196 as
  the dropping of the columns cannot happen with the triggers
  still being defined. Object Compare should properly generate the
  drop and recreate trigger statements when generating a WSL to
  allow for the drop columns to complete.

  If the triggers referencing a table are not in the source and
  that table has had columns dropped, compare fails to
  recreate the trigger. The columns cannot be dropped
  until the triggers are dropped.
  

Problem conclusion

• The problem has been resolved. Object Compare will recreate the
  relevant triggers to allow for the table columns to be dropped.
