• RECOVER TOLASTFULLCOPY of a PBR partition after the partition
  has been ALTER ADDED gets an abend04E RC00E40100 with internal
  reason code 00C20040 if there is no recovery base available.

  ABEND04E RC00E40100 RC00C20040 in DSNUCACR +x'02696' during a
  RECOVER utility with TOLASTFULLCOPY and DSNUM options.
  The problem could occur with the following scenario:
  1. COPY at partition level with the DSNUM option or using
     LISTDEF PARTLEVEL
  2. ALTER TABLE db-name.table-name ALTER ADD PARTITION - which
     creates a new partition n
  3. RECOVER TABLESPACE db-name.ts-name DSNUM n TOLASTFULLCOPY
  
  This message can be seen in the job output:
    DSNU510I - NO RECOVERY BASE AVAILABLE FOR RECOVERY OF
    TABLESPACE db-name.ts-name DSNUM n
  
  The abend occurred because there was no full image copy for the
  partition, or full image copy for the table space, leaving no
  recovery base for the new partition. The RECOVER should have
  ended with RC8, but continued processing which caused the
  abend.
  
  This problem could also occur for Partition-By-Growth (PBG)
  table spaces and partitioned indexes.

Problem conclusion

• Code for RECOVER TOLASTCOPY and TOLASTFULLCOPY has been
  modified to fix the issue. If no image copy exists for the
  partition or table space, RECOVER with the TOLASTCOPY or
  TOLASTFULLCOPY and DSNUM n options will issue MSGDSNU510I, and
  end with RC8 without recovering the partition.
