APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When the client attempts to compile this PL/I project the
compile progress stalls/ hangs. Upon further review it is
looping between a few specific PL/I files. This behavior is
consistent across multiple attempts, with the same specific PL/I
files being referenced for the loop.

Local fix

  • 



Problem summary


    

  • While compiling certain PL1 programs, the build process was
stuck, but not being done in parallel (as it is for COBOL), it
would block the entire project build.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • PL1 compiler code was investigated, the loop was reproduced on
our side for that source so we could debug it and modify the
code accordingly, to fix it.
