APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Whenever QMF for TSO/CICS encounters an underscore within a
column name, the column heading is split at the point of the
underscore. Some users wish to maintain column names containing
underscore on one line. This APAR adds the capability of the
user specifying the column name line split character.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All QMF for TSO/CICS V13.1 users. *
    ****************************************************************
This APAR adds new function to QMF for TSO and CICS V13.1.

This fix adds new QMF global variable DSQDC_COL_NAME_SEP.
DSQDC_COL_NAME_SEP adds the ability to change the column
heading break character from underscore to any one single byte
character value. Currently, the column heading break character
is underscore with no way to change it.

Prior to this fix, a column name of ONE_TWO_THREE_FOUR would
    appear as:

    ONE
    TWO
    THREE
    FOUR

in a QMF report. This fix gives users who wish to have the
column name appear as ONE_TWO_THREE_FOUR in the report
an option to change the default behavior.

Problem conclusion

  • One new global variable DSQDC_COL_NAME_SEP is added.

    DSQDC_COL_NAME_SEP (length of 1):

This value controls the character which produces multiple-line
    column headings.

When this character is encountered within a column name, the
column name will be broken to a separate line.

When the character is placed before or after the entire column
heading, it has no effect. You can have up to 9 lines in a
    column heading.

When this character is set to blank or null, column names will
be split if a blank is encountered in the name.

The value may be 1 SBCS character, including blank or null.

    The default is an underscore.

Message DSQ51249 is added to remind the user that
the QMF data object must be reset prior to changing
    the DSQDC_COL_NAME_SEP global variable.

Messages DSQ20683 and DSQ21577 are added to prompt the
user for a valid DSQDC_COL_NAME_SEP value.
