Error description

  • A SOS has been caused by long running transactions that are
doing many EXEC CICS LINK's that pass CHANNEL(DFHTRANSACTION) to
a Java program. These long running transaction that pass
CHANNEL(DFHTRANSACTION) on the EXEC CICS LINK causes DFHPGLE to
getmain storage for the channel and containers on behalf of the
programs. That storage for the channel and containers is not
FREEMAINed until task termination. Since these are long running
transactions, that storage is never freed and keeps building up
on every EXEC CICS LINK passing CHANNEL(DFHTRANSACTION) to the
Java program. This buildup of storage on all the LINKs
    eventually leads to an SOS

long running application with PG level 3 tracing active may
cause CICS to go into an SOS condition in UDSA

Problem conclusion

  • DFHPGCR has been amended so that storage acquired for
PG level 3 tracing is correctly freed.
