PH59741: IMS ADMINISTRATION TOOL DOES NOT ACCESS ATY LOG STREAM AFTER IXGWRITE RETURNS RC=08 AND RSN=0861

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• IMS Administration Tool considers a log stream as being inactive
  as soon as IXGWRITE returns RC=08 and RSN=0861 during
  initialization of IMS CTL and OM regions.
  IMS Administration Tool should retry regularly while IXGWRITE
  macro ends with some errors including RC=08 and RSN=0861.

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR.         *

  When IMS Administration Tool (Admin Tool) detects that IXGWRITE
  macro ends with a return code X'08' and a reason code X'0861'
  during initialization of IMS CTL and OM regions, Admin Tool
  skips the subsequent access for a log stream. However, Some
  errors including RC=X'08' and RSN=X'0861' are temporary so that
  Admin Tool should retry to access the log stream.

Problem conclusion

• IMS Administration Tool has been modified to retry accessing the
  system logger with IXGWRITE macro when the system logger is
  temporarily unavailable.
  
  Perform the following procedure after the PTF of this APAR is
  applied:
  
    - Copy the following load modules from the SATYLOAD library
      to the CUSTLOAD library:
      - ATYAOE00, ATYARCH0, ATYATCH0, ATYOINI1, ATYOPST0
    - Restart IMS CTL region or issue the IMS type-2 REFRESH
      USEREXIT command when ATYAOE00 is defined in the
      USER_EXITS section of the DFSDFxxx member.
    - Restart IMS CTL region when ATYAOE00 is not defined in
      the USER_EXITS section of the DFSDFxxx member.
    - Restart OM region or issue the BPE REFRESH USEREXIT command
      to refresh OM output type exit routines.
