APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • CICS tasks show very high CPU consumption when using a chunked
transfer-coding in order to send data from a client to CICS.
CICS is the WebService provider in the used configuration and
the total amount of data to be sent is quite big. The CPU
consumption went back to normal when disabling the chunked
transfer-coding mode.

Local fix

  • Disable the chunked transfer-coding mode.

When sending large amounts of data to CICS using HTTP chunked
transfer-coding we see high CPU usage and increase in response
times.

Problem conclusion

  • CICS now processes inbound HTTP chunked date more efficiently.
