Error description

  • If the task of 3.LOAD option in QCF ISPF UI is in a wait
state due to the FAILSAFE/AREA setting and the ISPF UI session
is disconnected due to a timeout, the loaded messages in the
    queue buffer leave uncommitted.
After this event, message queue usage remains high and the
and the uncommitted messages cannot be viewed or deleted.
There is no way to commit the uncommitted messages and an
IMS restart is required to release the uncommitted messages
    from the message queue.

This error message can also be seen as a result with the
    NOTOKENC reason as shown here:
    IQC7003E - RC=0010 QCF CRITICAL ERROR IN MODULE IQCZRSP0
    SRCHZCIB RC=00000000,RSN=NOTOKENC

Local fix

  • If the 3.Load option in QCF ISPF UI exceeds the
FAILSAFE/AREA threshold, use the LOAD function of QCF Batch
    instead.

    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. *
    ****************************************************************
If a timeout is detected while running the 3.Load option in the
ISPF UI, the QCF Server terminates the Load task without
    issuing a SYNC call.
Uncommitted messages remain in the message queue, increasing
queue usage, but no one can view or delete uncommitted
    messages.

Problem conclusion

  • QCF has been modified to issue a SYNC call after a timeout is
detected while running the 3.Load option in the ISPF UI.
If the Load task is waited due to the AREA/FAILESAFE
ACTION=WAIT setting, the loaded messages can be viewed after
the QCF ISPF user releases the waiting task. The loaded messages
that are increasing queue usage can also be deleted.

It is possible to recognize timeout events by messages displayed
    on the QCF server.

When a timeout is detected, the QCF server may display the
    following messages:
IQC7003E - RC=0010 QCF CRITICAL ERROR IN MODULE IQCBTQCF
     userid RC=0000002C,RSN=DEL CLT
IQC7003E - RC=0010 QCF CRITICAL ERROR IN MODULE IQCBTQCF
     TIMEOUT RC=0000002C,RSN=NO RESP

If a delay response is received from a Waited task after
a timeout occurs, the QCF server may display the following
    messages:
    IQC7003E - RC=0010 QCF CRITICAL ERROR IN MODULE IQCZRSP0
     SRCHZCIB RC=00000000,RSN=NOTOKENC
    IQC7003E - RC=0010 QCF CRITICAL ERROR IN MODULE IQCZRSP0
     SRCHZCIB RC=00000000,RSN=NOIMSCON

This APAR includes fix to allow to choose the X-Stop for the
VTAM, APPC, OTMA, BTAM, and MSC task types on a Row action the
Display Waited Tasks panel (IQCP94A) on the QCF Main Menu option
    4-Wait.
