Error description

  • After encountering a GPF exception the JVM is disabled and
CICS needs to be recycled in order to re-enable it.
The Java core dump confirms that the exception occurs in :

    com/ibm/cics/delegate/impl/DelegateWrapperImpl.SetCommArea

    and the joblog shows :

JVMDUMP039I Processing dump event "gpf", detail "" ...
JVMDUMP032I JVM requested System dump using ...
    ...
DFHSJ0007 Unexpected signal received by JVMSERVER: xxxxxx
JVMSERVER xxxxxx is being disabled and
restarted by CICS because the signal SIGSEGV (11)
was delivered to the JVM process, leaving the
              JVMSERVER in an inconsistent state.
DFHSJ0008 JVMSERVER xxxxxx is being disabled and restarted
by CICS because of an unexpected termination of
              the JVM

    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CICS JVM server is recycled due to a *
    * crash resulting from residual DTC data *
    * associated with the pthread. *
    ****************************************************************
If a JVM server incorrectly has residual DTC data associated
with the pthread and no active task running on that pthread,
then it will crash in DTC module DFHTRC64, causing the JVM
    server to recycle.

Problem conclusion

  • CICS has been changed so that this crash will no longer occur
if there is residual pthread DTC data.
