PH58141: IIDR CDC FOR Z/OS MAY REPLICATE SOURCE NON-EMPTY LOB DATA TO TARGET AS EMPTY.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When CDC z/OS is configured to replicate LOB column, even the
  LOB data is inserted with non-empty value, under some rare
  conditions, CDC z/OS source engine may send an empty LOB value
  to the target, this causes the LOB data loss.

  *                      subsystem parameter is set to YES,it is *
  *                      possible to miss the LOB data for any   *
  *                      SQL activity that changes the source    *
  *                      table during refresh activity.          *

  LOB data may be replicated as empty when SKIPUNCI Db2 parameter
  is set to YES.
  

Problem conclusion

• The WAITFOROUTCOME parameter for Db2 for z/OS is used to make
  sure that uncommitted LOBs are not sent as empty data during
  the refresh activity.
  
  These issues may occur only during the refresh activity.
  Hence, changes to the refresh process correct both of them.
