APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Various errors may occur after the GDPS DASD configuration
has been changed to remove or rename a Group or Consistency
    Group.

The DASD Config process that makes the change may complete
successfully. However, when DASD Config is next run, or
when the first GDPS domain is initializing in the sysplex,
GEO2675E DASD CONFIGURATION ERROR may be observed with
    incorrect indications like the following:

    - DSISVRT corrupted
    - site switch during the config validation phase
    - duplicate device

Other unpredictable errors may occur as well.

Local fix

  • Contact IBM GDPS support for assistance with checking for and
removing residual global variable data the causes the problem.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Error in GDPS initialization or DASD *
    * config processing after renaming or *
    * removing a Group or Consistency Group *
    ****************************************************************
When loading a DASD Config that removes or renames a Group
or Consistency Group, GDPS does not properly remove the
associated global variable information, which may remain in
    the NetView save/restore dataset (DSISVRT).

Subsequent attempts to load the DASD Configuration from DSISVRT
may access these residual definitions, which in turn may cause
failures in GDPS initialization or DASD Config processing.

Problem conclusion

  • This PTF corrects the reported problems.

DASD Config processing is changed to clean up residual variables
for Group or Consistency Group names that are removed from
    the configuration.
