Error description
(GOC) Internal APAR Allow specifying source/target objects from an SQL SELECT statement in Compare
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of Db2 Administration Tool for z/OS * * and Db2 Object Comparison Tool for z/OS * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Only DDL, the Db2 catalog, or a version * * file can be used as a source for a * * comparison (GOC1 panel). Catalog * * objects can be obtained only with name * * patterns. * * * * This APAR allows the result of an SQL * * SELECT statement to be used as the * * objects to be compared. This source is * * more flexible than a name pattern and * * allows the user to filter objects by * * using a WHERE clause. * **************************************************************** This APAR updates the code for GEN, CMBATCH and Object Compare to process SQL SELECT statements. 1) A new type of GEN request has been added: TYPE='SQL', SQL='<SELECT statement>' The SELECT statement may return only the following columns: TYPE CHAR(2) QUAL VARCHAR(128) NAME VARCHAR(128) VERSION VARCHAR(122) - optional INCLUDE CHAR(8) - optional XDTYPE CHAR(8) - optional (exclude) The result of this SELECT statement should be a valid GEN request that is currently supported. 2) A new type of object specification using SQL SELECT for source and target for Object Compare has been added: The new option "Source/Target is the result of an SQL SELECT statement" has been added on GOC12 panel. New panel GOCSQ "Define SQL SELECT Statement For Source/Target" has been added. An Object Compare job can extract objects from Db2 by using the new SQL SELECT GEN request. 3) A new type of object specification using SQL SELECT for source and target for CM batch has been added: CM batch support for new request TYPE='SQL', SQL='<SELECT statement>'; as a quick scope in SRCIN DD and TGTIN DD.
Problem conclusion
The enhancement has been delivered.
