    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Null character in SOAP Fault of *
    * response message causes some parsers *

    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Install a fixpack which includes this APAR *
    ****************************************************************
When using WS-Security and providing an incorrect password in
SOAP request, if the user registry configured at the Web
services provider returns an error message that contains null
character, the SOAP Fault in the response message will also
contain null character which causes some parsers to fail when
    parsing the SOAP response.

Problem conclusion

  • This problem occurred because the user registry that is
configured at the Web services provider returned an error
message that contained a null character and the JVM system
property: webservices.unify.faults was set to false. The
problem was fixed by removing any null chracters from the
error message before building the SOAP Fault in response
    message.

The fix for this APAR is targeted for inclusion in fix packs
8.5.5.25 and 9.0.5.18. For more information, see 'Recommended
    Updates for WebSphere Application Server':
