Error description

  • After applying PTF UI91557, ABENDS906 occurs with following
    message:
    CSV002I REQUESTS FOR MODULE DFSCNVT0 EXCEED MAXIMUM USE COUNT
    CSV028I ABEND906-08  JOBNAME=SRIO1611  STEPNAME=BMPSTEP
    It appears DFSCNVT0 is loaded twice for each checkpoint instead
    of loading DFSCNVT0 and reusing DFSCNVT0 loaded address.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: After applying UI91557, IMS BMP fails *
    *                      with S906 after issueing 16,384 or      *
    *                      more checkpoints.                       *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. *
    ****************************************************************
    After applying UI91557, PRF saves a time stanp using local time
    in the checkpoint tracing datasets (CTDSs). To calculate the
    local time, PRF requests to load DFSCNVT0 module. Originally,
    the loading process should have been bypassed if DFSCNVT0 was
    already loaded, but there was a flaw in the bypass process, and
    the loading process was performed at each checkpoint, which
    caused S906 abend after isueing 16,384 or 32,767 checkpoints.

Problem conclusion

  • Applying this APAR prevents the Abends.
