PH55755: INCLUDE -XMS256M IN ISCDEPLOY.SC SCRIPT JOPTIONS SETTING

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• If the default JVM heap values have been changed via environment
  variables so the initial (minimum) heap size is larger than
  512M, the iscdeploy script will fail with
  
  JVMJ9GC019E -Xms too large for -Xmx
  

Local fix

• Edit the  iscdeploy.sh script to add  the -Xms value so it reads
  
  
  JOPTIONS="-Xms256m -Xmx512m"
  
  
  To check the system JVM settings issue this command in USS:
  
  env
  
  
  It will show something like this example:
  
  IBM_JAVA_OPTIONS=-Xms1024M -Xmx1024M

  the iscdeploy.sh script fails JVMJ9GC019E -Xms too large for -
  Xmx
  This does not affect iscdeploy.bat script.
  

Problem conclusion

• -Xms256m was added to the iscdeploy.sh script for z/OS.
  
  The fix for this APAR is targeted for inclusion in fix pack
  8.5.5.25 and 9.0.5.19. For more information, see 'Recommended

Temporary fix

• -Xms256m can be added to the JOPTIONS under the z/OS block in th
  iscdeploy.sh script
