APAR status

Error description

  • If there are hundreds or thousands of FFDC files, it can severel
    slow down the startup process of the server, since during server
    startup a FFDC process, which looks at all the FFDC files in the
    directory, to determine if any files need to be cleaned up.

    If there are hundreds or thousands of FFDC files, it can
    severely
    slow down the startup process of the server, since during
    server
    startup, it processes all the FFDC files in the
    directory, to determine if any files need to be cleaned up.
    

Problem conclusion

  • A new message (FFDC0005I) will be logged in the server logs, if
    number of FFDC files exceed a certain number, which will notify
    users to review the FFDC file contents to resolve any issues to
    ensure the server is not having any problems.
    
    The fix for this APAR is targeted for inclusion in fix pack
