PH54210: ICH408I OMVS SEGMENT NOT DEFINED with COBOL 6.4 starting with GA version for users without OMVS segment

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The problem doesn't materially affect most compiles beyond the
  several ICH408I messages, although if RPTOPTS(ON) is specified
  for the compile step, the diagnostic
  
  IGYAS5125-U The compilation was terminated due to a compiler
          error in phase id: "IGYCASMB".
  
  will be issued and the compile terminate return code 16.
  
  The RPTSTG(ON) problem doesn't affect users with an OMVS
  segment.
  

Local fix

• Ignore the messages or give the user an OMVS segment.

  user IDs with an OMVS segment defined.
  

Problem conclusion

• Enterprise COBOL 6.4 was fixed so user IDs with OMVS segments
  are no longer required under LP(32). User IDs with OMVS
  segments are still a requirement of LP(64)
