PH53667: EXTRACT PROCESS ABENDS WITH ABEND SA78-10

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Customer is performing EXTRACT processing involving large number
  of data rows.
  The process abends with SA78-10:

  The ABEND is being triggered by the PSDFTRBA (Optim's temporary
  file) to be allocated dynamically by Optim and extending beyond
  5 volumes.
  

Local fix

• There is a temporary workaround available of pre-allocating a
  (temporary) PSDFTRBA with sufficient space on less than 6
  volumes.
  A permanent pre-allocated PSDFTRBA data set does not have such
  limitation and can span any number of volumes supported by DFSMS
  (up to 59).

  Optim is incorrectly processing the internal RBA file used
  during an EXTRACT/ARCHIVE process when it has been allocated as

Problem conclusion

• Optim processing will be enhanced to handle PSDFTRBA files
  allocated at temporary data sets on any number of volumes.
