APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • IBM Developer for z Systems - IDz - v16.0
Remote Connection Emulator(RCE) shows unreadable screen when
connected.

Recreate steps:
Create an RCE Session and connect it will got unreadable screen.

Local fix

  • Local fix: Added following lines in eclipse.ini or
developer_for_zos.ini file.
-Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.DefaultType=edge
-Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.IEVersion=11000

Then, restart IDz with the -clean option. This is only needed
the first time
after the updates to the .ini file.

Problem summary

  • Remote Connection Emulator shows unreadable screen when
connected.

Problem conclusion

  • The problem happens on Windows when Eclipse sets the internal
Web Browser Engine to use Internet Explorer 7 Compatibility
mode. Changes are made to set the default Web Browser Engine to
Edge.
