Error description

• When using pretest connection support a failing pretest can be
  taken away from the connection pool, resulting in negative total
  connection counts

  Negative total connection count for connection pool values when
  using pretest connection and jdbc driver supports abort.
  

Problem conclusion

• The code path causing the negative totals has been updated to
  avoid negative total connection counts.
  
  The fix for this APAR is targeted for inclusion in fix pack
