Error description

  • An application is installed into an enabled Liberty JVMSERVER
using a CICS BUNDLE. The JVMSERVER is later disabled and the
BUNDLE then discarded. This leaves the application archive file
in the Liberty JVMSERVER's installedApps directory.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Discarded Liberty JVMSERVER *
    * applications not removed from the *
    *                      installedApps directory.                *
    ****************************************************************
A Liberty JVM server is enabled and an application is installed
using a BUNDLE resource. CICS copies the application archive
file to the server's installedApps directory and adds an
application element to installedApps.xml. The application runs
    successfully.

The JVMSERVER is subsequently disabled, and whilst disabled the
BUNDLE is discarded. When the JVMSERVER is re-enabled CICS
removes the application element from installedApps.xml, however
the application archive remains in the installedApps directory.

Problem conclusion

  • CICS has been modified so that when a Liberty JVMSERVER is
enabled application archive files are deleted from the
installedApps directory if the application's BUNDLE has been
    discarded.
