Error description

  • BPA doesn't initialize dynamically obtained storage to store
the value specified in the BPLTRACE started task parms. There-
fore, if the IGVINITGETMAIN diag trap is specified, BPA will
treat the STGINIT value set to that storage by the diag trap
as the value specified for the BPLTRACE IGVINITGETMAIN started
task parameters and an unexpected result can occur. One known
unexpected result is that the BPLTRACE started task issues a
BPL278E message and terminates with user completion code 4081.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When the z/OS DIAG TRAP IGVINITGETMAIN *
    * is enabled, the BPLTRACE program, *
    * which is a data gathering component, *
    *                      will end unexpectedly.                  *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR *
    ****************************************************************
BPLTRACE does not initialize dynamically obtained storage to
store the value specified in the BPLTRACE started task
parameters. So, if the z/OS DIAG TRAP IGVINITGETMAIN is
enabled, BPLTRACE treats z/OS DIAG STGINIT value as the value
specified for the BPLTRACE started task parameters, and an
unexpected result will occur, such as outputting BPL278E
message and terminating with ABEND U4081.
