Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of z/OS Connect and z/OS Connect * * Unlimited V3.0 with PTF UI83334 accepted. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Restoring to z/OS Connect V3.0.63.0 * * fails with CC 0012. * **************************************************************** It is not possible to restore back to the V3.0.63.0 level after UI83334 has been accepted. If PTF UI83334 has been accepted the restore job fails CC 0012 and the following messages will be reported: pax: checksum error on tape (got nnnn, expected n) CEE5213S The signal SIGPIPE was received. ** FAILED with status=1 when processing: pax -ppAx -r This is because the scripts used to restore the Liberty pax file do not correctly handle the 2 files created at V3.0.63.0, removing one but not the other. To resolve the issue files that were not restored must be identified and removed. If the error reported in the SMP/E restore job output shows the following messages: -------------- SHELL SCRIPT BAQWLPSH OUTPUT FOR HFS BAQWLPXA Running BAQWLPSH v1.016 BAQWLPSH Processing SMP_Phase POST SMP_Action COPY BAQWLPSH install date: <date> <time> size: nnnnn TEMPDIR=<temp_dir> PWD=<installdirectory>/wlp -------------- 1. Remove the file <install_directory>/wlp/wlp.pax.partb 2. Re-run the RESTORE job 3. Remove the file <temp_dir>/BAQWLPXA.tmp Or, if the error reported in the SMPE RESTORE job output shows the following messages: -------------- SHELL SCRIPT BAQWLPSH OUTPUT FOR HFS BAQWLPXB Running BAQWLPSH v1.016 BAQWLPSH Processing SMP_Phase POST SMP_Action COPY BAQWLPSH install date: <date> <time> size: nnnnn TEMPDIR=<temp_dir> PWD=<install_directory>/wlp -------------- 1. Remove the file <install_directory>/wlp/wlp.pax.parta 2. Re-run the RESTORE job 3. Remove the file <temp_dir>/BAQWLPXB.tmp Note: The install_directory and temp_dir used are identified in the TEMPDIR and PWD lines of the job output. Then delete the following files, if they exist (file locations are relative to your z/OS Connect <install_directory>/wlp directory): -lib/io.openliberty.grpc.1.0.internal. common_1.0.68.cl220920221125-1642.jar -lib/io.openliberty.grpc.1.0.internal. monitor_1.0.68.cl220920221125-1642.jar -lib/io.openliberty.grpc.1.0.internal.client.monitor_1.0.68. cl220920221125-1642.jar -lib/io.openliberty.grpc.1.0.internal.common.jakarta_1.0.68. cl220920221125-1642.jar -lib/fixes/22009-wlp-archive-IFPH50342_22.0.0009.20221125_2029. xml -lib/fixes/22009-wlp-archive-IFPH50342_22.0.0009.20221125_2029. lpmf Note: File names have been split on a period, the individual file names should be contiguous on one line.
Problem conclusion
If UI83334 has not been accepted there is no issue, as the restore will remove maintenance to the most recently accepted level. Later PTFs can be successfully applied to an installation with UI83334 applied.
