APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • It may be noted when using IBM Transformation Extender (ITX)
10.1.1.x Launcher with a trigger on Oracle AQ messages that the
Launcher will trigger on messages available in the queue prior
to Launcher startup, but then fail to trigger from any messages
    subsequently queued.

The behavior may only occur when there is a firewall in place
between the ITX and Oracle AQ servers.

    Circumvention: None

Problem summary

  • Users Affected:
IBM Transformation Extender users using Oracle AQ adapter under
    Launcher.

    Problem Description:
The default port and address selected by the Oracle client
library to receive notifications for Oracle AQ subscriptions is
not always adequate, depending on the network environment and
restrictions in place. Oracle OCI API provides mechanism to
specify custom port and address but this feature was not
    utilized by the adapter.

    Platforms Affected:
    All

Problem conclusion

  • Added two new adapter commands / properties to allow user to
specify custom subscription port and address for listening for
Oracle AQ messages when running under Launcher. Two
corresponding enviroment variables were added as well for
    convenience.

Two new adapter commands, -IP and -PORT, were added to the
Oracle AQ adapter to allow it to specify IP address and port
number on which to receive notifications for the AQ subscription
created by the adapter running under the Launcher.

    -IP address

Used to specify the IP address of the network interface on which
to listen for the notifications arriving for the subscription on
which the adapter is subscribed. This adapter command is
applicable only when using the adapter under Launcher and when
the adapter is configured as a watch for events. By default, the
adapter listens on all available network interfaces. In addition
to the -IP adapter command, another way to explicitly specify
the IP address is by using the WTX_AQ_SUBSCRIBER_IP environment
variable for the Launcher process. When a value is specified
through both the adapter command and the environment variable,
the adapter command value takes precedence.

    -PORT number

Used to specify the port number on which to listen for the
notifications arriving for the subscription on which the adapter
is subscribed. This adapter command is applicable only when
using the adapter under Launcher and when the adapter is
configured as a watch for events. By default, the adapter
listens on a random port dynamically assigned by Oracle AQ. In
addition to the -PORT adapter command, another way to explicitly
specify the port number is by using the WTX_AQ_SUBSCRIBER_PORT
environment variable for the Launcher process. When a value is
specified through both the adapter command and the environment
variable, the adapter command value takes precedence.

    Applies to:
    10.1.1.1, 10.1.2.0

Fixed in the next service packs and releases.
