Error description
On IBM I, when a mix of WebSphere Application Server traditional and WebSphere Liberty are installed on one system, uninstalling all instances of one runtime hides all instances of the other runtime.
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i users of IBM WebSphere * * Application Server * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Similar editions of traditional * * WebSphere Application Server v9 and * * WebSphere Liberty editions do not * * check for the existance of each other * * when removed from the system. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** This problem can occur when the same version and edition of WebSphere Liberty and Traditional WebSphere are installed on an IBM i system. When the last Liberty product is uninstalled and at least one traditional WebSphere product, of the same version and edition, still exists, that WebSphere edition no longer shows as installed on the IBM i system. All the traditional WebSphere files are still where they belong and the traditional WebSphere servers continue to run correctly. However, from an overall system perspective, that traditional WebSphere version and edition appears like it is no longer installed when viewed from DSPSFWRSC or GO LICPGM option 10. The same issue is true if you delete the last traditional WebSphere edition, but there are still installations of WebSphere Liberty at the same version and edition. When the last edition is removed from WebSphere traditional or Liberty, the corresponding QWASM0XM.PRDLOD file is incorrectly removed. This file can be restored from a system backup or copied from another system with the same version and edition of WebSphere traditional or Liberty installed. Otherwise, a new install of that edition will also re-install the file.
Problem conclusion
Versions of traditional WebSphere Application Server and WebSphere Liberty with this fix will prevent the QWAS0XM.PRDLOD file from being prematurely deleted until the last version and edition of all traditional and Liberty servers are removed. The fix for this APAR is targeted for inclusion in fix pack 90515 (and in Liberty release 22.0.0.13).
