Error description

  • During startup of your CICS TS 6.1 region, you receive the
    following messages:

    EYUNL0099I applid LMAS LRT initialization complete.

    DFHPA0001 applid An abend (code 0C4/AKEA) has occurred at
              offset X'0408' in module DFHPAIT.

    DFHKE0201 applid ABOUT TO TAKE SDUMP. DUMPCODE: KERNDUMP,
              DUMPID: 0/0000. (MODULE DFHKEDD ).
    .
    Reviewing the dump from the AP0001, the failing transaction
    is CONL. CICS trace shows this task, program EYU9NA01 has
    issued command: EXEC CICS INQUIRE TAG

    following error message with regards to the Parameter

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If a PLT program attempts to browse *
    *                      region tags from cicstags.yaml at       *
    * CICS startup, CICS may abend 0C4 in *
    *                      DFHPAIT.                                *
    ****************************************************************
    PLT programs may be executed by CICS at startup before the
    cicstags.yaml is read, therefore any attempt to browse
    region tags can result in an S0C4 abend in DFHPAIT because the
    default address for the CICS tags has been initialised as all
    spaces, '40404040'X, which addresses storage that has not been
    getmained.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHPAIT has been updated so it does not abend if cicstags.yaml
    has not yet been read and region tags are not available. Upon a
    TAG READNEXT request DFHPAIT will now return the END condition
    which the calling program should handle.

    For information:
    Any attempt to read region tags should occur after JESYSMSG has
    displayed the following message:
    DFHPA2102I APPLID Reading CICS tagging file: filename.
