PH50507: IMS RE MAIN JOB FAILS TO DETECT SUBORDINATE JOB COMPLETION

Error description

• IMS Recovery Expert DB recovery main job submits subordinate
  job and wait for its completion. If the subordinate job is
  purged from JES spool right after job completion, IMS RE main
  job fails to detect job completion and waits infinitely.

  IMS Recovery Expert DB recovery main job submits subordinate job
  and waits for its completion. If the subordinate job is purged
  from JES spool right after its completion, the main job fails
  to get the subordinate job return code, and gets stuck.
  

Problem conclusion

• IMS Recovery Expert DB recovery process has been changed
  as follows:
  1. When the main job builds and submits a subordinate job JCL,
  new job step, EXEC PGM=BSY#LGRC, is added to the JCL.
  This job step creates a data set named userid.$$JBRC$$.jobid,
  and writes the job return code information into the data set.
  2. When the main job detects that the subordinate job has been
  purged from JES spool, the main job reads the
  userid.$$JBRC$$.jobid data set to check the job return code;
  then the main job proceeds with DB recovery process
  according to the return code.
